History
The town was granted by New Hampshire on the 23d of February, 1782, though the charter was not obtained until February 2, 1792. With and area of 21.4 sq. miles.
The last of the four one room schools in Goshen closed in June of 1969. The elementary age students are tuitioned to aschool of choice in Vermont but most attend Neshobe Elementary Schoolin Forestdale (Brandon, Vt.) Goshen is a member of Otter Valley UnionHigh School in Brandon with high school age students attending there.
Overhalf of the town lies in the Green Mountain National Forest. As aresult of this Goshen is host to a variety of outdoor activities.Blueberry picking takes place on Hogback (a part of the National Forestblueberry management area) each summer. Come try your hand at berrypicking some July day or take a hike. Many hikers may be seen atvarious times of the year coming and going from the Long Trail &Appalachian Trail that traverse through the top of the Green Mountainson the eastern side of Goshen. In addition we haveMoosalamoo Campground a small remote campground located at the base of Mt. Moosalamoo and Moosalamoo National Recreation Areaparts of the G.M.N.F. These trails connect to many road side stops suchas the Robert Frost Interpretive Trail in Ripton. In the winter thesesame areas will find cross country skiers, snowmobile riders and otheroutdoor enthusiasts. Goshen is open the year around with a variety of things to do.
